Our Story

Jamie Bates is a special education teacher, foster parent, and founder of JoJo's Closet. After fostering and loving a special baby boy, Jamie was inspired to open JoJo's Closet, the first clothing and resource closet in West Georgia to serve children affected by the foster system.

For three years, Jamie collected and organized donations of clothing and supplies, praying for the right facility to become available to share her passion and resources with the foster care community.

In 2023, after years of searching and praying, the perfect space opened up in partnership with Alice's House, another foster care nonprofit in the area. JoJo's officially opened it's free storefront in July of 2023, and it currently serves children in foster care across West Georgia.

Our Mission

JoJo's Closet exists to provide tangible resources to children in foster care. We are based in Carroll County, Georgia, but serve children across West and North Georgia. Our goal is to provide a sense of dignity to children in the foster system and relief for caregivers and guardians.

Whether it's through donations of carefully-inspected clothing, shoes, and childcare items, purchasing items from our wishlist, or monetary donations from the community, JoJo's Closet's well-stocked store provides everything a child in foster care may need, whether they are just entering the system, reunifying with family, or somewhere in-between.
